Staff Minister E-Blast (April 24th)

It has been a great pleasure to become part of the FOL family, and be given
the opportunity to begin a career in ministry with such a great and
supportive congregation.  Very few “jobs” allow for a new individual to
spend their first months learning and acquiring knowledge about the
position, as well as, be mentored and assisted by the wisdom of fellow
members and leadership.

My first quarter of service at FOL has been in building the foundational
relationships necessary to be an effective leader, and in learning how
Fount of Life operates, reaches out, meets, plans, etc. and this has been
an inspiring time of opportunity.  This letter is simply to update the
congregation on my involvement in expanding and leading more ministry areas
at Fount of Life for the remainder of 2012 and into the future.  I will
continue to discuss and implement all new ideas under the direction of
Pastor Uhlhorn and by working with our church leaders and all those who
have assisted me.  And, I welcome any input you may have, and look forward
to an ever-expanding role in serving you and working with you in reaching
the lost.

*Youth Centered Ministry – Every “Youth” Member Visits*

In the effort to continue to improve current ministries going on at our
church, I am going to meet with all the youth group aged kids in the
church. Any youth in our church that are high school age should expect a
phone call from me. I want to hear all ideas that can make our youth group
ministry better than it already is.

*Youth Centered Ministry – Sunday School Rotation*

Beginning immediately, and continuing into next Sunday School year I will
be discussing with the Sunday School teachers a plan to “rotate” through
the Sunday School classrooms each week, or as possible.  This would allow
me to build relationships w/ the children or young-adults in each
classroom, plus, allow Sunday School teachers opportunity to attend Adult
Bible Class on semi-regular basis

*Youth/ Adult Centered Ministry – Assimilation *

Beginning immediately I have begun preparing a spreadsheet of new members,
and will look to informally assign experience members to Shepherd new
people by simple greetings and friendship evangelism principles.  By
discussing friendship evangelism w/ our experienced members this may
promote evangelism overall and “assigning” them to shadow a new member
assists to put these principles into action immediately.  This program also
assists elders in maintaining personal contact to all new members, and
strengthens FOL’s already outgoing and friendly congregation.

Aside from these newer ideas, I also maintain all daily responsibilities,
and continue to assist Pastor Uhlhorn in all opportunities to teach, assist
in worship, BIC, catechism classes, meetings, visits, etc.  I hope to
expand my roles in Sunday worship, special events, youth centered events,
and much more and will continue to keep you updated as we grow together
serving Fount of Life and the ministry in Christ!

25th Anniversary Service Wrap-Up

What a great 25th anniversary celebration!  193 attended and
heard a great sermon by Pastor Bortulin (another 8 came last night to our
Monday evening worship service), and many stayed for retired and founding
Pastor Wayne Vogt’s interesting and amusing account of the early years of
Fount of Life.  I thought it was especially interesting to hear some of the
unique joys and challenges that all go into starting a mission congregation
in a place like the Springs.  Thanks to all who helped put the service and
celebration together!

Easter for Kids! Update

Remember to register for Easter for Kids and to direct your friends to do
so at our web site:  www.fountoflife.com

Here’s a note from Outreach chairman Tad Hartzell:

We are still looking for a few more people to donate some candy for the
eggs for the EFK Easter Egg Hunt.  Right now 3 people have signed up to
bring some candy.  Additionally, we are still looking for a 10-12 yr old
teacher and possibly someone to stand by in case one class gets really
large.  Teachers are only responsible for teaching the Easter story for a
25 min lesson.  All other activities are covered by other teachers.  Also
for a reminder, we will be setting up a 6:00 pm on Friday night, which will
entail stuffing the eggs with candy and setting up a few tables and signs.
Otherwise, not a lot of setup is necessary.  Many hands make light work for
all.

Thanks to all who have volunteered already, we are expecting to have
volunteer at the church on Saturday at 8:15-8:30.

Missions Update!

Hello!  I have some exciting news to share from the recent WELS Board for
Home Missions meetings I attended in Milwaukee last week.  We prioritized
nine new missions and ministries!  Now, we have to wait for May 1st, for
the official word from the Synodical Council to make sure we have the money
to do it.  But we think we’ll be able to start new missions in places like
Lafayette, Indiana, Laramie, Wyoming, get Peace, Boulder, CO some funding
so their pastor can serve full time there, and do some cross cultural work
in places like Anchorage, Alaska, Houston, TX, and Yakima, Washington.  I
admit that the “fun” part of all the extra work I’m asked to do as a part
of Home Missions is when we can actually open some!  So I consider the trip
back to the Midwest a real blessed one.
